Ever since it was released, the Playstation 3 has been many things. It has been one of the best Blu-Ray players available, one of the top games consoles and fully capable of being a multimedia system. Now this summer the Playstation 3 will become a 3D compatible system. From a recent interview with SCEA’s Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller, he revealed “all PS3 units that exist in homes and markets will be able to play 3D stereoscopic games as well as 3D BD movies through separate firmware upgrades–something that other platforms are unable to do.” This will become possible through a Fimware update which will allow all PS3’s the capability of running full 3D, The full details surrounding how the PS3 will handle 3D Blu-ray are yet to be released.
Panasonic released that HDMI 1.4 is required to play 3D Blu-ray playback under full resolution. However the PS3 currently only has HDMI 1.3, A Sony representative that this will all still be possible via the firmware update mentioned earlier. Buy PS3 Games
